Know When to Say “No” to DCF

DCF employees are state actors. This means that as a private citizen, if DCF is at your home and asking to enter and speak with your children you can refuse. You can allow DCF to look at your children, but do not let them question your children or you until you have spoken with an attorney.

The exception to this rule is if DCF arrives at your home with a valid 96-hour hold, an Ex Parte Order of Temporary Custody, or are present at your home with police officers who have a valid warrant. If this is your case, you must get legal representation immediately.

I cannot stress enough the importance of not speaking with a DCF investigator or treatment worker until you have discussed your case with an attorney. Contact The Law Offices of John J. Ghidini before you speak with DCF »
