FAQs for Clients

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. The Law Offices of John J. Ghidini offers a free 30-minute initial consultation. In this half-hour, your case will be reviewed and some questions answered. If a client would like more time, paid consultations are available for a reasonable cost. Please be aware that the Law Offices of John J. Ghidini is very strict with the half-hour time limit – this makes sure that everyone gets a chance to speak with an attorney during their scheduled time.

How do I schedule a free consultation?

There are 2 ways to schedule a free consultation:

  • You may call the office and will be provided with dates and times that are available for a consultation. The free consultation can often be scheduled for within 2 to 3 days of your initial call.
  • You may fill out our online request form, and we will email a few available dates for you to choose from.

How do I hire your firm?

When any person wishes to hire an attorney, the attorney and the client must enter into a written fee agreement (or “retainer agreement”). The fee agreement will state what the client is to pay, how the client is to pay, and when the payments are expected. The law requires that attorneys have signed fee agreements for all clients they represent, so the client must sign this document in order for the attorney to provide services.

What is expected of me when I hire the firm?

Once you have retained the Law Offices of John J. Ghidini, you are expected to assist the firm in your (or the client’s) defense. You will be expected to provide updates on the client’s progress in treatment, notify the firm of any new arrests or contact with DCF, provide all necessary documentation the firm needs, and most importantly, you are expected to be truthful and honest with the firm.

What hours are offered for client meetings?

The free consultations offered by the Law Offices of John J. Ghidini occur during regular business hours: from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. However, we understand that our clients are not always able to meet during these hours. Accordingly, a paid one-hour consultation is available outside of regular business hours. This paid consultation can occur at the client’s home, near the client’s home, or at our office.

What forms of payment are accepted by the firm?

The Law Offices of John J. Ghidini accepts personal checks, cash, and most major credit cards as forms of payment. Please note that payments processed with credit cards will be charged a small transaction fee based upon the total amount charged.

What do I do if DCF took my children or are at my house?

If DCF has taken hold of your child, you must immediately stop speaking with DCF and contact an attorney immediately. If DCF is at your house, ask them if they have a court order. If they do not have a court order, politely decline to let DCF in and inform them you wish to speak with an attorney before speaking with anyone from DCF.
